Silver Linings Playbook

Closing Time

News has it that Google Reader is closing on July 1st.  When I was browsing Ramon Bautista’s formspring, I saw an important Formspring News on top saying it is also shutting down on March 31st.  Earlier today while searching for Caramoan and Calaguas, Google results yield Multiply links. I click on these links but this Multiply Closed message appeared. Bummer. I was not able to back it up. All I have now are these history links from my browser that are not working.

Buti pa yung Friendster naback-up ko dati. I am really bummed. Multiply is where we turned our attention to when Friendster service sucked and was seriously infested by jejemons. It is where I downloaded mp3s before, sometimes of whole albums, like The Pin-up Girls, D'Sound and Bloc Party. I had a blog there, the first Wiwi and Stuff. I even contributed once in the PAWS page there. I wrote silly reviews and uploaded pictures especially during my stay in California. Good times. Sayang!

10 things I Hate About you

photocredit
I was reminded of this movie while they were planning for a game for the summer outing. I remember this movie mentioned by my high school classmate as a favorite of one of the girls he had phone conversations with (making phone calls was a thing back then). He even played me an .mp3 of Julia Style's poem. I was all yeah yeah yeah. That was 1999, I can't watch a movie back then because of financial concerns. Haha. I was only able to see this movie when a cable channel showed it. An annoying lady batchmate from my training 6 years ago also loved this movie, she wanted to live it. Her favorite songs were the annoying one form the movie. Crazy!!

Anyways, I can't remember the paintball game, all I remember is the poem. I remember it but not like I memorized it.

I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you’re always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you’re not around,
and the fact that you didn’t call.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,
not even close…
not even a little bit…
not even at all.

Today, this poem feels like a tattoo.

The King and I

We’ve been wanting to see this since we heard it on the radio around October last year but schedules and budget were not met because of our trip to Korea. The show got extended and was featured on Ensogo so we finally got the chance to watch it. 1,279 pesos for The King and I at Resorts World Manila Deluxe March 24. Worth it! They even throw some 400 peso-McDonalds giftcards that my family enjoyed.

It was our first time in Resorts World Manila (read as Resohortss Whoorld Mhanilaah, like on the radio commercial) so I kinda google up what to expect and what to wear. Time to go dressy, and yes we are up to it.

The screening time we get is for 2PM, we got there around 12, got the tickets then had lunch at Sumo Sam’s. Chast was craving for udon that time so we ordered nabeyaki udon and uni sushi. We also tried their milk teas. All that because we were disappointed with our dinner at Bubble Tea some nights back. After that, we went inside the theater. Our seats were fine. A great deal really.
Where we at
The show started on time. The cast were not the same one which featured international theatre actors like Monique Wilson but we still enjoyed it(We don't know how and who to compare really). The stereotypical accents kinda bug me though. How the child actor pronounce "Mother" with "Mo--dha", how the King, accent is not really Thai. I like how they made the oriental version of Uncle Tom’s Cabin in a play they made for the English guests. I also enjoyed watching the orchestra haha. Great production overall.

After the show we learned the worse part of being in Resorts World Manila. The parking fee is 110 pesos. Ridiculous!
We ate at Burger King in Marcos Highway after. tipid mode na ulit

Rule #1

Haha.

*****

Noong pinalabas yung No Other Woman, kumita sa takilya. Proud sila at napanood nila.

Nakakatuwang excerpt sa review ng No Other Woman:

3.4. It does not occur to them that the person connected to the penis is also responsible for their troubles.

Batang 90’s Paradox

I was born mid 80’s. I was a kid in the 90’s. I did the "running man" for a Vanilla Ice dance number on a Christmas party in 1990. It was an awesome time to be kid. A lot of reasons actually. A facebook page of ninety-thousand strong which update frequently will tell you why.

Apparently, some kids, born during the 90’s especially the latter part are also on the nostalgia bandwagon. It is like they want to be included to an elite awesome group of people called "90’s kids". Haha
On the downside, these 90’s kids are kinda stuck in that era. Who will blame them if the 90’s was awesome? It is like seeing a stupid Harlem shake video on youtube and then it makes you ponder, Gangnam Style was freakin cool.
The thing now is where to draw the line? What validates a 90’s kid? You were born ‘94, you don’t know Kurt Cobain, Yano and the Macarena. But technically, you are a kid in that decade. That would suck because you are still an outsider. Your memories of the 90s are just cartoons and stupid toys made famous by the Japanese.

In my opinion, 90’s kid should be a child by 1990 for full effect. If you are born later, you will qualify as a 90’s baby. Totally different.

Alibugha

I was planning to write about the prodigal son parable for weeks now and alas, for the fourth Sunday of Lent, I heard it at church. Taking the moral aside, that parent trait is real. No matter how bad a son or daughter has been, that person will always have a parent to go home to no matter what the circumstance. It just sucks seeing this get exploited most of the time.

UAAP Season 75
