I was going home one evening when I was reminded by someone about my epic hashtag question in facebook months ago. The epic question which raised hostilities was of course, why put hashtag in places not inside twitterverse where the hashtag function won’t work? In that sense only paraphrased. That episode although shows I’m not the only one pissed. It was over though. I was an hero.
It was annoying. Like you write a sentence (with no limit to the number of words, of course) in notepad remove all the spaces in between the words then add the number sign at the beginning. Never mind if the reader will understand the shit coming out of the thing. Let's try that with a tongue twister:
#sixsickhicksnicksixslickbrickswithpicksandsticks
Fucked up isn’t it? It’s really up to the reader what the fuck is written. Worse than trying to read a drug prescription or connecting the dots of the words of Boy Pickup. I even went too far by comparing then to the jejemons. Using the words of the then great Lourd DeVeyra from his spot.ph blog like it is an underrated version of that phenomenon. I still think the similarities are pretty slim.
Still, I am still seeing shit like that everywhere like this how I met your mother episode where Barney keeps saying imaginary hashtags: Hashtag burn, hashtag your tie is still dumb, hash tag refill!
When news appeared in Yahoo Philippines about Andi Eigenmann naming his baby daddy, she released it through her blog then media kinda picked up from there. For the love of the internet, all her blog titles are in hashtag form (e.g. "#welliwasneverreallytheconventionaltype"). Fuck that. So I guess she wants the blog entry to be a trending topic in twitter which it did of course. But what about the other stuff? I mean come on! Its either a style or she feels like she should always trend.
