Animal Sounds

CollegeHumor's Favorite Funny Videos

We know that animal sounds vary on whatever country or whichever province with a different dialect. Although they will still be the same, it is different on how people interpret it, as words. There's an online list on this.  The funny video clip from Family Guy also comes in mind when this topic comes to mind. The dog's bark will be Aw aw or woof woof but in Japan it is wang wang. The cat's meow is "nyan" which explains Nyan Cat. So what does the fox say? we don't give a fuck.

Chast had a story that when they were in Japan before, she actually heard a genuine "wang" and a "nyan".

When I went to Japan, it was a mission to personally hear those animal sounds. I have to find a cat and a dog and wait for authentic Japanese pet sounds.

During our hike in Fushimi Inari, we saw this really fat cat.

Too bad I did not hear a meow. It did not understand when I try calling it with my meow meow.

When we were in Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama, we saw this big dog. I wluld love to pet it too, but I could not communicate to the dog's person.

Luckily, I heard the dog bark. It did not sound "wang wang" to me. Hahaha. She still insisted that it was "wang wang". The only explanation for this is that she has been to Japan plenty of times before. She's kinda became one of them.

Fushimi Inari

We arrived in Kyoto kinda late in the afternoon. We checked in in our Guest house then planned to look around. We missed the right bus from Kyoto station which sucks because the next schedule is after an hour. That Bus no. 5 is tricky. We got the wrong bus 5 because it should be Bus 5 South, there should be a Kanji (南5). We still push through to going to the mountain. Chast asked a tourist where are the torii. I did not know what she was looking for because I believe we have passed several of those along the way. We went home but as the shops close, we were lucky enough to hit this store selling his last two remaining serving of takoyaki for 200Yen.

Clearance Sale!

The next day, we went back, this time by train, which is faster way to travel. The place should be gorgeous. She said she knew the place from the movie adaptation of
Memoirs of a Geisha. Then I saw what the fuzz with the torii is about.

It is beautiful. It is a shrine so people come up to pray. We were just there as tourists. We even saw an old lady taking his time one step at a time. That’s faith and determination.

I haven’t been hiking for a very long time so this experience gives a little fulfilment on my legs’ craving for walking uphill. The weather was very suitable. We even ate ice cream on one of the station on our way back.
This is the route we took going back
¥‎200 ice cream. Soya flavor
The ice cream is delicious. We just don't picture that good. We were tired haha

Arinco Kyo Roll

The rule in picking of a place to eat especially as a tourist in a different country, The food will be great if the locals are eating there.

While walking in the streets of Arashiyama, we saw this bakeshop that has a long queue.

We thought instantly of stand in line as well and try the kyo roll. That much people is a good indication that this cake must be delicious. We ordered the green tea flavored.

That small serving costs ¥286. It was delicious! I am not a fan of cake but Japanese cakes are tasty! If we could only buy a whole roll and bring home. I would have.

Blondie - Heart of Glass

Finally! After five long years of wondering what is the title of that awesome song I heard on the radio once or twice in Los Angeles way back 2009.

How did I find it? I was watching TV and there's this H&M Commercial with Miranda Kerr. Google sent me to this page and yeah! a eureka moment. Thanks H&M!

My Favorite Color

Shoe Photography: Not my Thing
I recently bought this Nike Zoom Hyperdisruptor. It is pink, I just have to buy it. Because of that I have to brag about it to my friend Kathleen who also loves pink. I took a picture of the shoes and send it to her. She asked me if I will wear it. Of course I will. It’s awesome! She knows I love pink. We have the same model of Sony Vaio. We bought our laptops just two months in between.

My pink laptop and my still working ipod classic.Picture from 2009

Then the question came: Why do I love pink? She said that it is not natural for guys to love pink. I have a college classmate who also likes pink. Immediately I went to his facebook page and he is there wearing a pink shirt carrying his son. We’re not gay, and if we are there’s nothing wrong with that.

So i dug deep in my soul to somewhat answer that "why". It is due to my non-conformism. Yes I am a non-conformist. I remember back when I was young there were Slambooks and shit. You gotta have a favorite cartoon character. You gotta have some stuff with your favorite cartoon on it. I don’t have my own stuff, although I watched cartoons, I didn’t have a favorite. The Tazmanian devil sucks or marvin the martian. Mickey Mouse? I haven’t seen a cartoon he starred in until I saw the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. My best pick would be Hello Kitty. Just because I think I should have a favourite.

With colors, I don’t like anything in the rainbow. I don’t have a favourite Power Ranger, Bioman or Maskman. They say black is not a color. So I have to pick another. Pink it is. I stand by to my favourite color ever since.

Baguio Country Club Raisin Bread

I am no fan of cinnamon rolls. I think the aroma of cinnamon alone makes me high, same as curry and pesto.

My mother went to Baguio last year and brought these tasty raisin cinnamon bread from Baguio Country Club. Love the bread. Baguio Country Club is for members only, she got hold of that good bread from SM Baguio. There’s this Villa Cordillera kiosk at SM that sell that stuff. I went to Baguio last February, and that bread is my only story. Finding the store is hard because my mother did not tell me the name of the store. Good thing that the information booth knew what we were loking for. When we found it there were no more stock of the bread. I went back early the next day but there were still no bread. They re-stock the stuff by 5PM so I have to come back again in the afternoon. The bread is almost 200 pesos, my mother told me that she bought those before around 150. Inflation sucks. The bread is still delicious. People I went to Baguio agree. We saw some other Baguio alternatives for the bread, but the bakery is too far. SM is walking distance from our hotel.

So these past days, my younger sister went to Baguio and also looking for "the bread" and she also has the same difficulty as I did. If only she asked me about it. She was not able to find the kiosk. She was not able to bring some of that tasty bread home. Haha.

On a separate note, Dex told me last week that the bread is sold now in Quezon City. In a restaurant called Tempura. Will check it out when I come back.

That Viral Kissing Video

There's this viral black and white video of strangers kissing. People like it, hence the viral thingy. I haven't seen it but the thumbnail and the title itself and what people describe it say what it the video is all about.

The idea is not that new of course. We know of an infamous flippish channel of Johnny M. called Who's that Girl. He goes to bars with a camera, a microphone and his guts(kapal ng mukha). He made out girls who are up for it. On later videos he get other guys do the making out with random girls. Essentially what the viral video is about. Every guy knows Flippish.

Some girls on facebook friends list do share this video. No guys will share something stupid like this. I dunno if girls find this romantic. To be on te clean side, the black and white thing will at least make it look like it is art. So girls will watch it.

Twinkie

I know of this snack cake from popular culture, mainly on Zombieland where Woody Harrelson’s character is looking for this snack cake. Emma Stone is hot in movie. Going to its wiki page it has a lot of reference in movies and TV.

News surfaced in 2012 that Hostess went bankrupt and the twinkie will be no more..

Then internet made its move and save the twinkie.

I’ve been to American supermarket and tried Hostess’ product before like donettes but not the twinkie. I also learned that Hostess is kinda based in Texas. It is possible that I could eat this twinkie. I don’t really go out there and try hyped food like the magnum or the fake cronuts back home but I gotta try this twinkie Haha.

Also, I am not really a fan of cakes. I like bread and other pastry but not really cake. I don’t like sweet stuff. This snack cake is just enough for me. It has a sweet filling but because it is just bite size, I like it. Thank you internet for saving the twinkie.

Stand- up Comics

The last Superbowl introduced me to the Jerry Seinfeld’s web show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. I like it a lot. I see good looking cars and of course coffee. Most of all I hear comedians talk in real conversations. I like hearing their stories on how they support each other when a comic will be a guest at Carson. I like funny anectodes and their thoughts on anything, how they think and how they come up making funny stories. I enjoy watching stand up comedy. It is hard standing in front of an audience, talk and expect people to laugh. Jay Leno said comedy does not change a lot. What's funny in the 1920's is still funny today. Not like romance. What's romantic before may not be the same case today. Unfortunately in the Philippines, it changed.
Comics has disappeared, and replaced by gay comedians. I remember harana scenes, sing alongs, then stand up stints before. Present day comedians suck. No comedy at all. Just insults to anyone and it is funny by today’s standards. Bawal ang pikon. I think comedy died in the mid 2000's in the Philippines. After the boom of indie thing in TV which brought us Strangebrew and Ariel and Maverick.
