This song is in my head. I know I memorized this song just by constantly seeing this on MYX back in the days when music videos are relevant. This must be the first song where Justin tested his solo career. Ginawa nyang chiwariwap yung mga kabanda niya dito.

Guilty Pleasures
One term I learned from the 2000’s is guilty pleasure. They mainly attach it to TV shows, the bad ones or not that bad but you know not really spectacular. The early 2000’s was when a lot of these reality shows started after Survivor really took off.
So for more than a month, we have this free preview of Waku Waku Japan, the cable channel we learn to love when we first saw Japanese travel shows when we came to my sister’s to visit. We love Japanese culture! I just learned on what sort of themes the old j-drama were dealing with their ‘Drama Legend’ spot on evenings Monday to Thursday. We kinda mock how stupid the stories were and why a leading character should have a terminal illness. We all know the character will die. For me, it kinda explains now, why the Endless Love I watched a decade ago was like that — it is the Japanese’ fault

So for the remaining weeks, we watched the two series after the last two where the lady character with the disease died. The other series that followed were Majo no Jōken (魔女の条件) ("Terms of a witch"): where the story is about forbidden love between a teacher and a student and Aishiteiru to Itte Kure (愛していると言ってくれ, "Tell Me You Love Me"): a love story between a deaf painter and an aspiring actress. What can I say, we got hooked. Not everytime that a story like those will come to my attention. Terms for a Witch even has Utada Hikaru’s First love as its theme and Tell Me You Love Me’s theme is equally catchy.
I did not see the ending of Terms for a Witch but Chast told me nobody died. Tell Me You Love Me, I did watch. It was not tragic also. They got back together. Our free preview of the channel is over so goodbye JDrama for now.

Kathryn is Back!
On my random moments of procrastination, browsing brought me to this link: a slideshow of these teen movies inspired by Shakespeare. Yes, there was this period when all we see are teen movies in the late 90’s along with slasher and end of the world movies. Number 1 on the list is the Taming of the Shrew adaptation, "10 Things I Hate About You". I happen to learn that Julia Stiles’ character’s name is Kat. Aside from Shakespeare inspired movies. There are other movies inspired by other literature; this thought brought me back to my all-time favorite Kat character, Kathryn of course from Cruel Intentions. I so love that character. I think I also watched Buffy, the series because Sarah Michelle is on it.
So searching for this movie again shows me the news that there’s actually some TV production greenlit which is a continuation of the original story from the movie, not another direct to video movie. And what’s good about the news is Roger Kumble is part of the production. There’s more: Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing Kathryn Merteuil again. I hope this series is good. I can’t wait. I feel like one of those Star Wars geek excited last year for the return of the old cast playing their old roles. Cruel Intentions is kinda my era.

Sarah Michelle even posted this teaser. Fans will get it.

It's all happening, or with Penny Lane:

SG Haircut
Here's how gorgeously long my hair was when we first dine at the Crab in the Bag as posted in their facebook page.
I will not go back to that salon again. It turns out, I was at the wrong place. I was at the other end of the escalator.

I was getting sickly and I kinda blame my long hair for it. I needed to cut it. Jon suggested this place salon in Lucky Plaza where he usually go every three weeks. It should be fronting the escalator before going up to Jollibee. He has a guy who normally cut his hair. He's Filipino. I think I should be in good hands.
I went there but I think I could not find a guy cutting hair. I went to this lady then I showed him a picture on my phone of which I want her to copy the same haircut to mine.
Not even close.

Smartphone Zombies

One time we were going out for lunch I saw a group of office mates walking and they exactly look like the zombies illustrated above. It does not look good. I have a smartphone. I am aware that it does make me look a zombie sometimes but I try not not be when I could. I read books on the train instead of reading stuff on my phone. Hell I don't even have games installed. My phone is pretty much to communicate, Nike++, navigation and browsing.
We went to Ash Wednesday mass and I see people using their phones inside the church. I think I hate that more than people using phones inside theatres. The signal jammers in some theatres are so cool I wish every theatre has that.
I just wish other people will think the way I do in prohibiting using these things in specific places.

The Little Prince

This
is one of the first books I bought when I decided that I should be
reading books on my daily commute. There was a movie released about the
book so therefore a new interest has emerged about the book. I haven't
read this children's book before. A friend told me they were required to
read it at grade school. The book is deep. The characters and the
symbolisms would be hard for me to understand if I read this a child, I
think.
The artwork in the book is cute. It's not just me who find it cute. A friend posted this

I bought this Threadless shirt just because.

Not The Little Prince exactly but very nice play on the design. I have been eyeing this shirt since I saw this in their catalog.
Beach!
Last year, I missed summer. The Filipino summer. The Philippines is said to be the only tropical country to celebrate the summer season, as one radio puts it. I missed it in a sense that I did went hiking or go swimming. That's what you get working abroad. One former officemate working in Dublin says his skin is pretty much missing vitamin D which is normally free from abundance of sunshine.
On our trip to Kamakura in Japan after the wedding, I saw the beach. I was pretty much excited seeing the ocean again. Unfortunately, the place is still cold and we are not really there to walk in the sand. I was terribly longing to swim on one of these. Still, beach!

Back in Singapore when my sister was in town, we brought her to Sentosa. There's a beach there, man made and not really pretty. Again, beach!

| The beach looks very artificial. The presence of the cargo ships makes it more like a pier |
December was when I had my real beach vacation. Not really a vacation, attending a conference is company sponsored but the venue was awesome. A five-star beach resort in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The beach was so clean and few people on it. My type of place. We make it a point to watch the sunrise every morning we were there. I also run barefoot. I could not put the place look better in pictures. You have to be there for the experience. This post is about my longing for the beach for the year, then actually made it happen. Very wow. Three countries, three beaches.
