GuestHouse Korea

Looking for a good place to stay on Seoul, I stumbled upon this post by Byaheng Barok, and I think the place would be perfect. There are other guest houses especially in Myeongdong but because the place is a shopping district, I figured other location would be better. This guesthouse is two blocks away from Anguk station, which is also near the Changdeokgung Palace, which could mean one destination down from the list. Arriving and leaving towards the airport is also easy because of the bus stop nearby for the Airport Limousine. The fare for the limousine is 10,000 Won and as this blog post says, give yourself a treat and just ride the bus instead of commuting on the train. Especially on departure if like us, had more baggage because of too much shopping. Shopping was inevitable.
We find the guesthouse just fine. Orientation to where we were and directions to the palace was easy. We arrived there around 7AM. There were foreign guests who greeted us and let us in. The guy supposed to be in the reception area was sleeping on the lounge area. We thought the guy is also a guest. Good thing there’s another lady guest who woke him up 3 hours later. Hahaha. We were just there, waiting for somebody who worked there to welcome us because the reception opens at 8AM. Funny story.
The room was fine. The floor was heated, and the bed too. That was essential knowing that when we arrived, the outside temperature is Zero degrees Celsius. Just like my stay in China, I made it a point to see what’s on TV. Luckily there are English channels. One con is that there are no towels. Good thing I brought one. That’s just that. We still enjoyed staying there.
In the morning, there’s free tea, or coffee and toasted bread. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook. Just clean after yourself. The lounge area has heated floor. Just take off your shoes if you want to step in. There’s also a big HD TV. There are two desktops there that anyone can use. They also have Wi-Fi.

The place is obviously frequented by foreigners. It is good to talk to other guests every once in a while.

The place is perfect.  If ever we come back to Seoul, we would be staying there again for sure. Nothing fancy but it is home.
