Men and Women in Uniform

Memorial Day is a holiday to remember the men and women who died while in military service. It is kinda like, National Heroes Day in the Philippines. The difference is the honor to the people in uniform lives on everyday. Here, they really honor their soldiers. They are treated with respect. You see servicemen walk on the streets proudly wearing their uniform. They are greeted by normal citizens and given thanks for serving the country. A returning soldier surprising his son at school is evening news worthy. They have their own lounge in Detroit Airport. Arriving troops are welcomed dearly in DFW Airport. It is also serious news when veterans are jobless upon returning to civilian life.
Even police officers are respected. You won’t bribe a police officer if he gives you a ticket for overspeeding.
They love their soldiers. I wish back home, our men and women in uniform are also seen the same way. Not tainted with corruption, mocked for incompetence but treated with pride and respect.
